Chris Hurd
President & Founder
Chris brings more than 15 years of experience in residential construction, remodeling, and project leadership.
In 2017, he founded The Craftsman, growing the company from smaller residential projects into kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, and full-scale renovations. That progression — built on hands-on experience, trusted relationships, and a strong referral network — became the foundation for Forge.
Much of the company’s growth has come organically through repeat clients, referrals, and word of mouth. That remains an important part of how Forge operates today.
Forge was created as the next evolution of that experience: a more focused approach to residential remodeling, centered on quality, attention, and personal involvement.
We intentionally limit the number of projects we take on at any given time. The goal is not volume. It is to give each project the time, focus, and oversight it deserves.
Personal involvement
Chris remains directly involved from the earliest conversations through planning, construction, and completion. He works closely with each client to shape the scope, budget, and direction of the project while staying connected to the work as it progresses.
His construction background keeps him close to the work itself. Chris is regularly on site, reviewing details, solving problems with the team, and occasionally stepping into the work during key carpentry and finish phases. That firsthand understanding helps ensure the standard established at the beginning of a project carries through to the end.
The team
Just as important is the team behind Forge.
Over the years, Chris has built long-standing relationships with a highly skilled network of carpenters, craftsmen, and trade professionals. Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other regulated work is performed by appropriately licensed professionals, many of whom have worked alongside Chris for years.
These are not simply names pulled from a subcontractor list. They are trusted relationships built across countless projects, difficult problems, tight timelines, and years of working together.
That continuity matters.
It creates faster communication, greater accountability, and a team that already understands how to work together. Each person is brought in for what they do best, allowing every phase of the project to be handled by experienced professionals who take pride in the finished result.
For the client, that means one cohesive team, one clear direction, and a project that receives the attention it deserves.
The philosophy behind Forge is simple:
Fewer projects. Deeper focus. Better work.
Design. Build. Transform.
